How often do you try to follow a plan? A strategy? Even being tactical. All this can provide a sense of security, giving direction and focus.
Things never go to the exact plan. We simply cannot rely on it.
Life´s full of surprises and sometimes we need to improvise. I learned this in the desert. I had planned my equipment, food, had a training plan I followed bu then, uh, so many surprises on the way that required me to be flexible and act upon the moment. Like dealing with the heat.
I wore a buff around my neck and poured some water over a quarter part of it, turned it right to my neck to cool off, then watered the next quarter of it every fifteen minutes and turned it again and so on. Hope you can understand. It´s saved me from having to stop, possibly suffering from a heat stroke.
Nobody could have told me this or known before. It´s what you do on the spot when you have to find a new way. It´s what makes life adventurous.
Requiring you to shift your inner and outer limits. Throwing the fixed plan away and trusting the next steps intuitively.
